Ook hij werd met de grote razzia van december 1944 weggevoerd naar Duitsland voor dwangarbeid. Op 19 februari 1945 kwam hij in Dortmund om het leven; volgens de Duitse overlijdensakte (Standesamt Dortmund-Mitte) gebeurde dit om 1.00 uur aan de Tiefestra\u00dfe 65. Hij was ongehuwd, werkte als landarbeider, en woonde voor zijn wegvoering bij zijn vader in Sommelsdijk, Onvaardsedijk C56.<\/p>\n<p>Zijn neef Leendert Philippus Kn\u00f6ps overleefde hem slechts verloren slag om Arnhem en het verlies van Zuid-Nederland, met een nijpend tekort aan arbeidskrachten voor de oorlogsindustrie. In het nog bezette deel van Nederland \u2014 waaronder Goeree-Overflakkee, dat tot mei 1945 onder Duits gezag bleef \u2014 dreef de bezetter daarom op grote schaal mannen tussen ruwweg 17 en 40 jaar naar Duitsland voor dwangarbeid: sommigen via een offici\u00eble oproep, velen anderen bij razzia&#8217;s waarbij ze van straat of uit hun huis werden gehaald. Vaak met weinig meer dan de kleren die ze droegen, werden ze per trein afgevoerd naar fabrieken, mijnen en bouwplaatsen voor het herstel van bombardementsschade. Voor de Flakkeese dorpen vond de grootste van deze golven plaats in december 1944; van de mannen die werden weggevoerd, keerden niet allen levend
