Stover (1st Lt., 56th Fighter Group), neergestort op 30 juli 1943.<\/p>\n<p>Stover vertrok die dag vanaf een Britse luchtmachtbasis voor een escortemissie en raakte op de terugweg boven de Westerschelde in een luchtgevecht met Duitse jagers. Hij sprong uit zijn brandende toestel, maar zijn parachute opende niet; zijn lichaam werd rond half elf &#8216;s ochtends bij Den Bommel op Goeree-Overflakkee gevonden. Hij kreeg begin augustus 1943 een tijdelijke veldbegrafenis in de omgeving, voordat hij later werd herbegraven op de Amerikaanse Militaire Begraafplaats in de Ardennen (Belgi\u00eb). De wrakstukken van zijn toestel werden pas in 2007 tijdens graafwerkzaamheden teruggevonden, wat mede aanleiding gaf tot het monument met het gedraaide propellerblad op de crashlocatie, onthuld op 2 mei 2009. De replica-grafsteen op de Oude Begraafplaats in Den Bommel herinnert apart aan hem, op de plek waar zijn lichaam destijds werd geborgen.
