wo2go-mon-story-text'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Een gedenksteen met een roestvrijstalen plaat met de tekst &#8220;&#8230;NOOIT MEER&#8230;&#8221;, in de tuin van wooncomplex Vollenhoven.<\/p>\n<p>Deze steen hoort bij de allereerste dodenherdenking die Melissant hield, bijna tachtig jaar na de bevrijding. Op 4 mei 2023 kwamen circa tweehonderd mensen samen bij Vollenhoven. Dorpsraadvoorzitter Klaas Kuipers wees bij die gelegenheid op het bijzondere verzetsverleden van het dorp tijdens de bezetting, en burgemeester Ada Grootenboer-Dubbelman noemde de namen van de Melissantse oorlogsslachtoffers, onder wie de pas twaalfjarige Hendrik van der Mast. Het programma omvatte gedichten van schoolkinderen, kransleggingen, muziek van fanfare De Hoop en een saluut van een veteraan.
