Met de evacuatie van februari 1944 vertrok het gezin van de weduwe Van Gurp-Buth van Ooltgensplaat naar Dirksland, waar zij onderdak vonden bij P. Markus aan het Korteweegje.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De twee zoons, Johannes en zijn broer Willem, werden op 21 december 1944 door de Duitsers opgepakt en met ongeveer 3500 andere Flakkee\u00ebnaars op transport gesteld naar Duitsland. Zij kwamen terecht in Spelden, bij Friedrichsfeld.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Op oudejaarsdag moesten de mannen gaan werken, maar Johannes zei: &#8220;ik voel me niet lekker, ik ben ziek.&#8221; Toen zijn broer Willem &#8217;s avonds van zijn werk terugkwam, was Johannes verdwenen. Pas na drie maanden ontsnapte Willem, samen met twee andere Flakkee\u00ebnaars, en legde lopend de terugweg naar huis af.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bij zijn thuiskomst bleek dat zijn moeder het bericht al had ontvangen: Johannes van Gurp was op 31 december 1944 te Friedrichsfeld overleden \u2014 negen dagen na de razzia, door vreemden ter aarde besteld.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Johannes was van beroep landarbeider en lid van de Gereformeerde Gemeente; vermoedelijk is hij aan difterie overleden. Hij werd eerst begraven op de Ausl\u00e4nderfriedhof te Friedrichsfeld; op 6 april 1955 is hij herbegraven op het Nederlands Ereveld in D\u00fcsseldorf. Velen van hen zouden het einde van de oorlog niet meer meemaken. Ook Johannes van Gurp Jzn. werd bij deze razzia weggevoerd; hij overleed op 31 december 1944 in Friedrichsfeld.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><!-- close content main div
